The biggest query we have had since the website launched was in relation to public transport and the shuttle bus services.
We’ve outlined the Kingsford Stadium Supporter Travel and Shuttle Bus Strategy for a typical SPFL game kindly provided to us by the Kingsford Stadium Project Director.
The following is the initial proposals, these will be fine tuned after an extensive supporter survey to be carried out prior to the stadium opening and would be subject to regular review during each season.
We have also asked about bus transport from Dyce railway station. As part of the Aberdeen to Inverness Rail Improvement Project, and the doubling of track between Aberdeen and Inverurie, the proposal by Network Rail is to increase rail services between Laurencekirk and Inverurie, alongside general service improvements between Inverness and Aberdeen, adding a possible rail/bus service option into the public transport mix. Phase 1 of this project is due to complete in 2019.
There may also the possibility to supplement home supporters club buses with additional capacity to assist with options from outside of the city.
The general assumptions are as follows:
- En-route pick-ups will be included if this is deemed necessary after the survey;
- The buses would commence around 2.5 hours before kick-off (dependent on travel time);
- The number of passengers per bus are based on a build-up to full bus capacity during the 2.5 hour period;
- The frequency of buses also increases during the 2.5 hour period;
